Four Bandung Students Won the IEEE Asia Pacific Congress

Four Bandung students who are members of the IEEE Student Branch Telkom University won third place in Asia Pacific in the “IEEE Student, Young Professional, and Women in Engineering Region 10 Asia Pacific Congress 2015” event which took place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, 9-12 July 2015. According to Amanda, this congress is a biennial event that started in 2002 in Singapore. "This congress aims to expand networking, skill enhancement, technology breakthroughs, women in engineering, economic and social aspects," she said. In this event, no less than 250 delegates came from 28 countries in Asia Pacific including Australia, India, Malaysia, Japan, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and of course Indonesia. There were 31 people who applied to go to Sri Lanka. However, after going through a selection process, the IEEE Tel-U team was finally chosen to represent Indonesia. On July 1, 2015, the IEEE R10 SAC team announced that IEEE Student Branch Telkom University passed the selection for the "Representation Competition" After that, on July 6, 2015, IEEE SB Tel-U was declared to be in the top 20 in Asia Pacific. "And we are required to represent our Student Branch directly at the IEEE R10 Congress on July 9-12, 2015," he said. The jury team decided that Amanda and her friends were in the top three in Asia Pacific behind Bangladesh and Malaysia.
